Web Design

on their website, with no content. This is pretty bad.

Think about it, why do you go to a search engine and search a

keyword? To find INFORMATION. Useful information for that matter.

So what do YOU do if you land on a page full of advertisement and

no content? You skip to the next site in seconds.

On the other hand, if you land on a page with tons of good

information and useful tips, you will stay much longer on the website.

This is exactly what you want to do on YOUR website.

So, have your website layout beside you (print it out to see it, if you

want) and start searching for information.

Never copy someone else’s text. This will ruin your

credibility in no time. It is NOT worth it.

But that does not mean you can’t use someone else information and

rewrite it, adding your own style to it!

Tip : One process that I sometimes go through to make sure I add

my own style in rewriting texts that I have found on the web is…

First, I print out the text.

Then, I read it and take the major points that I want and like.

Then, I retype it. This might take a bit more time but it forces you to

rewrite completely, reorganizing the information.

This step can take a bit of time, as searching for “good” information

is not always that easy. If you want to do it faster, SBI has an

integrated tool that helps you and this makes the process much

easier for you.

You have found useful information for each of your pages? Excellent,

you can now go to Step 3.

It is now time to be creative and write your website content, using the

information you have found previously.

You might think “ I am NOT a writer…how am I going to survive this

step?”

That’s ok, don’t panic. Everyone has to start somewhere! You might

need a bit of practice but I can assure you that you will be able to

write excellent content for your website. After all, you chose a subject

you love so you just have to write like if you were talking to a friend

about it (and follow a few simple rules that I’ll show you in a minute).

Now, if you are really stressed out about writing a good website

copy, I can suggest one course that is excellent (and free!). It is

called “Net writing Masters Course » . You can receive it by

sending a blank email at this address : twmsstephaniehetu@sitesell.net

. So, don’t wait, subscribe to this

free course and come back here afterwards, more relaxed about

writing online!

Ok, ready to write? Here are a few simple rules to follow, in order to

achieve good results in the search engines :

1. Remember your targeted keywords you selected earlier? It is

time to use those. To optimise your page for search engine, you

should concentrate on ONE keyword per page. So the first rule is:

don’t dilute your content by talking about apples and trucks. Stick

to apples only if this is your targeted keyword.

What Are Inbound Links And Why Are They Important?

links

On most web pages, the cursor will change shape when your mouse hovers over the link,to give you a visual indication that you can click on the link. On some websites, the colour of the link will change. But it's still a link.

When the search engines crawl the web, they take notice of the links they find. They will use links to discover new pages that they need to crawl. They will also use the links to decide on the importance of the linked pages and to give them an idea of the subject matter of the page.

Search engines aren't as intelligent as humans by a long way. This means that they have to rely on these approximations of intelligence.

For instance, for a long time now you have been able to search for the phrase "click here" on Google and chances are that the Adobe Reader download page will come up as the number one site. This is because a lot of sites have Adobe files on them and will put a link up for people without the Adobe Reader. This link will almost certainly say "click here".

So Google and the other search engines think that is what the Adobe Reader site is about. Dumb, huh? Well, yes. But it gives us some valuable clues about how the search engines work. What it means is that the "anchor text" is very important for determining the topic of a

website or web page.

The anchor text is the bit that's usually blue underlined on a web page and that is clickable to go to the new site. Sometimes you have some control over the anchor text, sometimes you don't. A lot depends on who puts the link on their page and whether or not you are able to influence what they put. For instance, if someone is linking to your site from their blog, chances are that they will put whatever text comes to mind on their musings and then highlight a few words before pressing the Link button and putting on the link.

King Of Lists

You will need a month of Sundays to get through this lot.

Smashing Magazine.com

This concise ebook will show you 12 simple things that you can do RIGHT now to improve your conversion rates.

I believe traffic conversion to be MORE important than traffic. Yes, it is the “chicken before the egg” idea. If you don’t have traffic you can’t convert it, but if your site doesn’t convert that traffic into buyers or subscribers, why send people to it?

This is a lot of information to absorb, so get something to drink and get comfortable. I’ve got a load of valuable information for you…

My first tip is how to get more subscribers to opt-in to your list. Most of us have the standard opt-in form on our site, and although it may work for you, wouldn’t you like to get MORE people to opt-in to your list? Of course you would. Here in the south we have an expression that goes like this… “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” Meaning there is more than one way to do something. So if there is more than one way to ask your visitors to opt-in to your list, then why are you just using ONE way? Why not use a few ways on your page? Here are a few ways you can use an opt-in form.

A standard opt-in form

A pop up, pop under, fly in pop, or exit pop (see our special offer for the brand new (Phoenix Popups)

Offer a special offer for subscribing.

You can use a few of these on the same page. Don’t over do it, but you can use two-three of them on the same page. By asking people to opt-in to your list in different ways, you have more chances of getting them to opt-in. Try different methods to see how each one works.

HTML code for 'Web Page Development'

What is a web page ?

Web pages are very different from, say, a Word document. In a word processor document all aspects of the page are incorporated into the one file ... the graphics, font styles and sizes and other formatting.

A web page is basically plain (ASCII) text with 'tags' (as ASCII text) incorporated. The graphics are all separate files. Your web browser reads the ASCII text with the tags and graphic files and displays the complete formatted page.

Because web pages are only ASCII text they can be prepared in any text editor. However, there are advantages to preparing a web page using a special web page or HTML editor, as will become obvious as we progress through the course.

So, what is a Tag ?

Tags are 'codes' included in the web page file that tell the Browser what type of formatting to apply to any text placed in between pairs of Tags. For example, if you want a word to be displayed in bold you use a tag to turn on the bold formatting function of a Browser - and the

tag is .... Read on>>>> Free Download

Why Ugly Sites Sell More Than Pretty Sites...

Copyright © 2006 Anik Singal

What the heck is going on lately? Most internet websites I

go to now, all I see are pretty graphics everywhere.  I see

moving images, I see crazy JAVA, things flying around.

Don't get me wrong, some of these graphics are truly

amazing - I love to see them! But, that's the problem! I

only love to look at them, when I'm done looking at them, I

LEAVE!  Lately, there's been a disturbing trend of everyone

spending huge amounts of money on web graphics. The

problem? There is NO proof that this really helps your

sales!

As a matter of fact, one of my biggest money makers is a

consulting service...

 SingalMarketing.com/consulting

...I put that page up in 5 minutes (after writing my copy).

Believe it or not, but even being such a high priced

service - that page converts about 2.5% - of course I get

very targeted traffic...

LOOK AT HOW UGLY IT IS!!!

BUT, it has content! It has great copy; it's got my face,

my voice and a great service - the ACTUAL key ingredients

to making a website that sells...Now, the problem is that

most people are very logical - you would THINK that a good

looking site should sell more - it makes sense right?

You expect that a good looking site probably increases your

credibility - I mean, come on, it shows your visitor that

you REALLY mean business, yadda yadda yadda...But, again,

look at MY site - I'm selling a high priced consulting

service to business owners - I'm actually selling my

expertise in the internet business world. Yet, the site

design (or lack thereof) seems to have NO influence.

Just so you know, I DID try a nice fancy design for that

page. You want to know what happened to my conversion? It

plummeted down to 1.4%!  Now, that I've got your attention,

let's look at why it is that a prettier site probably sells

less:

1. More graphics take longer to load.

Not everyone has fast internet yet - actually, most people

don't. No one wants to wait for hours for a site to

upload!

2. More graphics distract your visitors from your message.

Your graphics can actually work against you because your

visitors spend more time focusing on them than they do

focusing on your copy! Remember, it's your COPY that sells

- so if the visitor isn't reading the copy - he/she is NOT

going to buy. Period.

3. Some visitors may not like the colors, you may be

sending the wrong message to different cultures.

Just because YOU love the colours of your graphics and you

love the colour scheme of your website does NOT mean that

your visitors do too. There it is, those are the three MAIN

reasons to keep your website AS neutral AS possible.

------------------------------------------------------

So, remember, PRETTY does NOT always equal more sales!

------------------------------------------------------

Ugly sites DO sell and will continue to do so. What matters

is what you're selling, your own expertise, and your copy

writing. In the end, the best way to know what works best

for your visitors is to TEST, TEST, and TEST some more!

Until next time,

Anik Singal

What Is Viral Marketing?

Viral marketing is unique and quite extraordinary. We share with friends and family the bargains or freebies we were able to get. If we can copy the freebie we will do it and give it to people that we know, if for no other reason than to make ourselves look good. Everybody knows somebody, and just like rumours, these freebies can spread fast.

You can use viral tactics to market your newsletter, your web site, products and services you’re selling, practically anything. And you will have an opportunity to make a profit when someone clicks through the advertising on the freebie. The beauty of this technique is that the advertising is free for you and the benefit is free for the user/potential customer.

In other words, it really is one of those rare win/win situations.  The process is actually very simple. All you have to do is find resources where you can download free stuff, then turn around and give it away to your visitors. There are numerous online resources where you can download the freebies. For example, you may begin by offering your visitors free e-books and free software.

The software might cost a substantial amount of money to develop, but in the long run it’s a onetime fee for a decent stream of visitors. This is only one idea of many. You will find that the options are endless. Find something your visitors want and watch them roll on in!

Free web hosting is another form of viral marketing. You can provide this for free on your server to small businesses or beginning internet marketers. In return, you place a banner ad at the top of each site advertising your products and web site.
